A weary, small-time hoodlum (Nguyen) attempts to quell the escalating conflict between two of his childhood friends-one a struggling martial artist whose school fails after he takes out a loan, and the other a vicious loan shark intent on collecting the debt.

Like a scrappy lo-fi fusion of Hong Kong New Wave and American mumblecore cinema, The Brokenhearted captures the spirit of true independent film with earnest performances, gritty visuals, and inevitable violence in this story of honor, loyalty and brotherhood.
