One of the key films that influenced Film Noir in 1940’s Hollywood!
Introducing Studio Canal's Blu-ray (Region B) release for Le Quai Des Brumes (aka Port of Shadows), a 1938 French thriller directed by Marcel Carné (Children of Paradise).
Jean (Jean Gabin, La Grande Illusion), a deserter, arrives in Le Havre and looks for a shelter before leaving the French territory. Housed in a shed on the harbour, at the end of the docks, he meets an eccentric painter and a mysterious and beautiful girl called Nelly (Michèle Morgan, The Fallen Idol)… From then on he will be trapped in a tragic destiny, in spite of his passion for Nelly and his will to live.
This haunting pre-war drama was one of the key films that influenced Film Noir in 1940’s Hollywood.
